ENVIRONMENTALLY SOUND DEVELOPMENT - PIEVE
The area to the immediate south of Milan has always been predominantly agricultural, tending to constitute a cutting edge in this sector since as long ago as the late Middle Ages.
Agriculture has managed to keep its roots alive here, as well as an organic relationship – both social and economic – with the area and its population.
This means that the specific nature and history of the Pieve Emanuele area give it all the potential and the right conditions to host an advanced university campus: the fallout of functions and activities of a rural society generated by the university are expected to benefit the local economy. The scenario is related to a proposal to strengthen the local urban and regional public transport network, with a special focus on the railway, with the SFR and SFS system.
The plan currently being studied provides for the establishment of a scientific and technological park, to house a variety of activities and centering around the creation of a university campus.
