FINAL DESIGN OF THE BERGAMO RAILWAY STATION
The project for the renovation of Bergamo station was developed according to the objectives of the Client: Centostazioni S.p.A. These changes will help to improve the quantity and quality of services for passengers and thus increase attendance, livability and security. In the functional reorganization draft , the new hall wrapped in its glass volume will appear as a space with high permeability to both the city and railway functions. Total Area of the Entrance domain is of 2,422.2 m2, the project includes:
• The relocation of the ticket desk in the East area of the passenger building;
• The construction of a main hall and a central atrium at the service of the new ticketing area;
• the introduction of new access systems to pedestrian underpass, through connecting stairs and a panoramic elevator, from the ground floor to the station and the south side of the city;
• the introduction of a new glass gallery along the North side of the station building, with distribution function of the flow between two halls and providing way-out to the station ground;
• relocation of the buildings devoted as secondary services for travelers;
• the introduction of new ancillary services to travelers;
• relocation with complete reconfiguration of the offices of the Railway Police and sanitation facilities in the auxiliary services building;
• inclusion in the building of the new ancillary services of Cofely and Trenord;
• the creation of new technical areas in the passenger building and the building auxiliary services (Milan side).
